Disaster Preparedness & Response Ministry Team

The Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry Team (DPRMT) was formed in 2000 so that members of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference could share in a ministry to survivors of disasters within the geographical boundaries of the Conference. Since then the work has been concentrated in four areas:

1. Preparedness -- we produce materials to assist congregations prepare for emergencies within the congregation, encourage family preparedness and encourage congregations to collect contact information so they can assist their members at the time of a disaster.

2. Collection of materials that might be needed when a disaster event occurs.

3. Cooperating and collaborating with other agencies, volunteer and governmental, who have disaster response responsibilities, so that we don't jump in and become part of the "second disaster."

4. Encourage individuals and congregations to assist in the long-term recovery in communities that have experienced a disaster. In most years, disaster recovery work camps are held within the geographical boundaries of the Conference.

As a part of the DPRMT's goal of helping local churches with preparedness and emergency management, the team has created the Emergency Management Flip-Chart.
