About Us

Our mission is to provide a vibrant and faithful witness to the work of God's Love in Jesus Christ.

We are a blending and union of 144 faith communities coming historically, from eight separate bodies, namely: the Congregational Churches, the Christian Churches, the Evangelical Synod, the Reformed Church, the Magyar Synod, the Evangelical and reformed Church, the Congregational Christian Churches and those congregations which were begun as a United Church of Christ in Indiana, Kentucky, and parts of Illinois.

From the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto "that they may all be one" is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church.

The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the United States. Today we are welcoming new communities of faith that have been formed around common affinity and need. Ethnic congregations, LGBT congregations, theologically diverse congregations, and many others are finding their way into our shared life.
