This award is presented each year at
the Indiana-Kentucky Conference Annual Meeting to honor at least
three local churches for their mission ministries in the
previous year so that all of our churches will be inspired to
serve Christ through mission.
The purpose of the Barnabas Award
is to celebrate the mission efforts of local congregations in
the Indiana-Kentucky Conference. These mission efforts or
programs may have been conducted in your own community or
overseas during the year 2007. What is important is that they
were initiated by your church to benefit others.
If you feel that your church has
initiated a mission endeavor or program that your congregation
is proud of and reflects the spirit of Barnabas, we would
encourage you to fill out a nomination form when mailed to all
churches in the spring and submit it to the Conference. If there
are photographs, newspaper articles, or written material about
the mission project, please include those as well. The deadline
for submission is April 30, 2008.
Please indicate on the nomination
form if the average worship attendance for your congregation is
less or greater than 100. Each year we want to recognize the
mission programs of smaller as well as larger congregations.
Congregations of all sizes are encouraged to submit a nomination
form.
In order for different congregations
to receive the award each year, congregations that receive the
Barnabas Award will not be eligible for another five years.
Representatives of congregations who have received the award
will be asked to select the winners of the Barnabas Award in the
following year.
If you have any questions, please
contact Val Ruess at 317.924.1395.
We look forward to receiving your
nomination form for the Barnabas Award! |
