“Making
Friends of Church Numbers”
March 1, 2008
A
seminar entitled “Making Friends of Church Numbers” will
be provided on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the
Interchurch Center, Indianapolis. The seminar will be
offered by the United Church of Christ Cornerstone Fund,
a fund established to provide low interest loans to UCC
churches. Ms. Cheri Lovell will address basic financial
statements, developing a narrative budget and the
policies and procedures every church needs.
In response to the growing
number of non-Christian religious communities appearing in all of
our communities, the Ecumenical Ministries Committee of the IKC and
the Christian Church in Indiana, DOC, are sponsoring a seminar
entitled “The Challenge of Ministry in an Interfaith World.” The
seminar, to be held on Monday, March 10 at the Interchurch Center,
Indianapolis, will feature presentations by Lydia Veliko, UCC
Ecumenical Officer, Rev. Robert Welsh, DOC Ecumenical Officer, Peter
Makari, Area Executive for the Middle East and Europe, Global
Ministries and a panel of UCC and DOC chaplains trained and
experienced in interfaith ministry.
Originally
scheduled for October 12-13, the Evangelism Coach Training was
rescheduled to Friday – Saturday, March 28-29, 2009, at Merom
Conference Center. Designed for individuals or church groups,
participants will receive tools and strategies to take back to
their own church and will be in a position to decide if they
would like to become an Evangelism Coach and receive more
training. Cost will be $25.
Global Ministries
will offer a “Ministries and Mission Interpreters (MMI) Training
Event” on three different Saturdays in April 2008: April 5 in
Valparaiso, April 12 in Indianapolis and April 19 in Evansville. The
purpose of the training event is to introduce lay and clergy
participants to the multiple ministries of Global Ministries and the
many ways in which local congregations and associations can
participate. Participants will receive a notebook and will review
access via the Web to the multiple mission programs available to UCC
and DOC congregations and members.
