New Conference
Vision Approved by Board of Directors
The final
version of the new Vision Plan for the Conference and an
implementation process from 2008 to 2015 was approved by the
Board of Directors at its February 15th meeting. The
Vision Plan has been mailed to all churches, pastors,
moderators/presidents and conference/association officers.
Associations have been asked to provide time during their spring
meetings or a special meeting to hear a presentation of the Plan
and provide an opportunity for questions, suggestions and
concerns. The Vision Plan will be presented to the Annual
Meeting which will be asked to affirm the plan and begin
implementation.

Indiana-Kentucky
Conference Receives
Lilly Grant
The Indiana-Kentucky
Conference UCC was one of 22 judicatories across Indiana to
receive a Lilly planning grant for an “Initiative to Address
Economic Challenges Facing Indiana Pastors.” The size of the
planning grant was $33,150. A committee, chaired by Rev. Dr.
Richard “Dick” Dickinson, will be meeting throughout the spring
and summer to prepare a proposal that will address the problem
of clergy educational indebtedness and the corresponding
difficulties associated with it. If the IKC grant proposal is
accepted, the Conference will be awarded close to $490,000 to be
used over a four year period.

of Christ. Rebuilding from disasters is a long term endeavor.
Toward that end, help continues to be needed for the victims of
Hurricane Katrina and the hurricanes that hit Florida the year
earlier. In the October all church mailing, look for brochures on
Work Camps in New Orleans and Florida. You are also encouraged to
contact Back Bay Mission. In addition, visit

“Pilgrims of Hope”
Trip to Holy Land
July 6-19, 2008
The
Mission and Stewardship Interpretation Committee of the
Conference is co-sponsoring “Pilgrims of Hope – A Study and
Solidarity Tour in the Holy Land” to be held June 6-19, 2008.
Held in June each of the past three years, this tour focuses on
the rapidly decreasing Christian Palestinian minority. In
addition to visiting the “Holy Stones,” participants will meet
the “Living Stones,” Christians, both lay and clergy, who are
struggling for peace through non-violent conflict resolution.
The leader is Dr. Michael Spath, an Assistant Professor at IUPU-Fort
Wayne and a member of Plymouth Congregational UCC in Fort Wayne.
Names of IKC members who have taken the tour are available upon
request. For further information, call 260-456-8920 or e-mail
lmspath@msn.com.
The National Youth Event, held every
four years, will take place July 24-28, 2008 at the University
of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. The registration fee is $345
